Donkey Kong

Finishing first place again is DK.  The Secret? The banana peel.  It always screws you over right before the finishing line.  This was a fun one.  I'm finally starting to get the hang of corel painter.

Here's my process:

I started off with a drawing, after thumbnails and comps this is what I came up with.  I thought it was great, but once I got some sleep I realized that it was anything but.  I was going for a big head little body effect at first, but instead took a different route.

you can see how i cut him apart and put him back together.  i decided to increase his mass and decrease the kart.

still increasing mass i also increased limb size, and put in general shadow shapes and colors.  i started focusing on the face to give him an expression rather then a blank stare.

more underlay colors
increased general mass, he was still looking too small

Tiger album

A Tiger? An album?  Why not combine the two?  This is for a band called The Star Fighters, which to my knowledge doesn't exist. . . googled.  They do exist.  Lets listen to them here.  Anyway, tiger army's a cool band right?

GUEST BLOG

Hey Everyone, Toast asked if I’d be interested in doing a guest blog, to which I enthusiastically replied, YES! I’d like to thank Toast for this great opportunity. I really admire and enjoy his work. His Donatello painting is one of my favorites!

I have had a love for drawing for a long time. The first drawing that I can remember doing was of He-man when I was in kindergarten. I was amazed that I could make pictures of my favorite superheroes. From there on I have always had a pencil in my hand and have rarely missed a day when I haven’t sketched something.

Currently I am studying illustration at UVU with Toast and many other amazing artists. I love the more humorous side of art. My sketchbooks are usually filled with drawings of monsters, aliens, and caricatures of people. When I’m finished with my degree I hope to work in animation, gaming or anywhere that will pay me to create art.

Here’s a sketch that I drew for Toast. It was made using red col-erase pencil, ink and marker on smooth Bristol. Toast, I’ll get this to you next time that I see you.

If you’d like to see more of my work check out www.adammunoaart.com. Thanks again Toast and Happy Holidays!
